According to legend, in 2737 BC, Chinese Emperor Shen Nung was sitting under a tree while his servant was boiling water, when leaves from the tree fell into the pan. Shen Nung, a renowned herbalist, decided to taste the infusion his servant had accidentally created. The tree was a Camellia sinensis. The drink they discovered was what we now call tea.
